The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has included Berks County in a drought watch; all citizens are asked to reduce water use by about 5 percent through voluntary conservation measures. Drought Information can be found at www.dep.pa.gov
Trout Run Dam is currently at Stage 1 Drought Level; all customers are asked to reduce consumption by 5%.
Public Notice Experimental Parking Restriction
Experimental Parking restriction imposed by Borough Council for a 90 period in accordance with the Code of Ordinances, Chapter 184 Vehicles and Traffic, Section 184-4 Experimental Regulations.
The following locations have been designated two hour residential parking: Highland Street from South Madison Street to the Borough Line; Third Street from South Madison Street to the South Franklin Street; South Jefferson Street from Philadelphia Avenue to Third Street; South Monroe Street from Rhoads Avenue to Third Street; Rhoads Avenue from South Monroe to South Madison Street; Rhoads Avenue from South Berks Street to the Borough Line; and North Washington Street from East Fourth Street to East Sixth Street.
Residents of the above designated locations may obtain residential parking permits and visitor permits at no charge at Borough Hall during normal business hours. Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please contact Borough Hall at 610-369-3028 if you are unable to come to Borough Hall during those hours and we will attempt to make alternate arrangements for you to obtain the required permits.
To view the residential parking permit ordinance click on "Code of Ordinances" on the left of the home page and then click on Chapter 131 Parking.
Leaf collection schedule: Monday and Tuesday west of the railroad tracks; Wednesday and Thursday east of the railroad tracks. Friday is a make up day. Collection will continue through the week of December 9th.
